Ryan is an Eagle Scout

Ryan, age 13, finished all of his Eagle Scout Requirements in October and we received word in December that his application had been approved by the Scouting Council. Since we didn't already have enough going on (haha), we decided to arrange his Eagle Court of Honor before Eric left on his mission. Michael Lindow, our across the street neighbor also received his Eagle that night. Some people think that when a boy earns his Eagle so young, that it is more his parents efforts than his. In this case, that is not true. Ryan did all of the work of organizing and carrying out his project. I am thrilled that he already knows how to be a leader and gets things done.

The pinning ceremony. The traditionally gets to pin the Eagle on the Eagle Scout but really Randy (aka scoutmaster) provided all the parental support for Ryan.

The Mentor Pin. Ryan chose Uncle Jerry because he is not only his uncle but also the assistant scoutmaster and has been the epitome of a mentor to Ryan. Jerry seemed surprised and honored. I don't know why he was surprised. He was the perfect choice.

Congratulations to Ryan. It's such a huge accomplishment and life event in a boy's life. There will be countless times in his life he will remember things from scouting and will be able to bless the lives of those around him. Love the photo of all your scouting boys. And Austin's signature smile! :D Congratulations to you and Randy too. Scouting is a family affair. Randy has been a dedicated scout master for a lot of years, lucky boys! Congrats to you all! PS. Did Randy want some more Shanghai scout patches? Remember, when you're here, to get some, k?
