Eric, whose birthday falls right before New Year's Eve usually just made New Year's Eve his party. I decided it would be fun to throw him a party and invite all his family and friends which meant throwing the party at the church.....
First, we decorated....which was quite fun. All the kids and some of their friends helped!
Kylie was the main decorator!

I was in the kitchen making rice, beans, sausage, fresh Salsa, and Brazilian candies.

The best part of the whole night was a slide show by Sterling Sudweeks (shown here with his wife, Claudia). Sterling served a mission in Brazil about 20 years ago and just recently got to go back and had a lot of interaction with many of the people he taught. He shared those experiences and it was incredible.

Heuers and QuiggsSee Matt in the baseball cap at the end. He was the other best part of the night. He got up and taught all of us how to sing Happy Birthday in Portuguese! He did great! Definitely comfortable behind a mic and singing solos!

Then we went home and lit the candles, sang happy birthday again and opened gifts!
New luggage! That should come in handy!

Woohoo! You know how to throw parties! You should have sent around sign-up sheets for a clean up committee. You come and eat, you get to help! :D Looks like you got everyone ready to think like the Brazilians do and get Eric in the mood to go there. So fun. I'd like to learn how to make some Brazilian food sometime. Maybe you can teach me?! Is it like we think of Mexican food as being or is it different? Looks like this is one birthday he will not forget!
