The letter sat tentalizingly unopened on our dining room table for about nine hours. We happen to have a world map on our table so it was kind of fun to wonder "where in the world will Eric be going." In fact, as everyone gathered, people wrote on the envelope where they thought he might go.
You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Brazil Salvador Mission. It is anticipated that you will serve for a period of 24 months.
You should report to the Missionary Training Center in Sao Paulo, Brazil on Wednesday, 21 January 2009. You will prepare to preach the gospel in the Portuguese language.
You can hear Eric read the letter himself live on video found on Katrina's blog (www.lifeoftheseamons.blogspot.com).
We are so excited for Eric and so very proud of his decision to serve a mission. He has such a happy attitude and loving nature that I am sure he will love being a missionary even during the hard times.

Eric is just what the world needs! And obviously what Brazil needs. How we treasure our times with him this summer. Love him so much!
That's so exciting!!! I'm thrilled for him, we can't wait to have an Elder to write to. Ryanna has already planned on what's she's going to say in her first letter!
